Finished Strong! Women's Soccer Wins 5-2 at Austin College

Women's Soccer ended their season with a high-scoring victory against Austin College 5-2. The Celt offense fired throughout the whole match with 28 shots total from 12 different players.

St. Thomas wasted no time making their presence known on the scoreboard, as Brooke Le put one in the back of the net just 29 seconds into the match. With the lead secured, Le also chipped an assist in the next goal just nine minutes later, when Blake Delamater scored her first as a Celt to make the score 2-0. Austin College needed to respond, facing a 2-0 deficit, and in the 11th minute, the Roos answered. With their goal, St. Thomas' lead was cut in half 2-1. The scoring frenzy did not stop there, as Brooke Le continued her stellar five-point first half with another goal. With everything accounted for at the half, the Celts would enter the locker room with a 3-1 lead. In the second half, the scoring did not end. In the 64th minute, Emma Cerda recorded her first as well as the lead was now 4-1. Austin College would try and claw their way back into the match with another goal, but a later score from Mariana Alvarez-Garcia made the lead too large for any comeback to be possible. At the end of 90 minutes, St. Thomas secured the 5-2 victory.

Defensively, Sadie Penney held strong in goal as she and her defense limited the Roos to just nine shots. Recording three saves in the match, Penney's defense also drew a caution on Austin College.

This victory concludes the 2022 women's soccer season. The Celts finished the year 5-10-3, and 5th place in the SCAC.
