GEORGETOWN, Texas – The 15th-ranked Trinity women's swimming & diving team scored a dozen event victories on its way to a 184.5-110.5 win at Southwestern University on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers had 16 silver and bronze medal performances in the meet, in addition to the 12 gold medalists in the dual meet. Seven different individuals and one relay team picked up top performances in today's matchup with one of Trinity's fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference schools.
Emma Hagan (Overland Park, Kan. / Olathe East) led the charge for the Tigers with three individual victories, then she also swam the third leg of the 200 free relay that finished with a winning time of 1:39.18. Hagan notched her first victory of the day in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:57.30. She then tied for the gold medal in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.84 seconds, and finished with a 57.98 in the 100 butterfly to win that as well.
Joining Hagan in the winning relay were
Caroline Myers (Austin, Texas / Bowie),
Kyla Foxhoven (Austin, Texas / Westlake), and
Amy Benson (Newmarket, N.H. / Phillips Exeter Academy). Benson had picked up an individual victory earlier in the day after touching the wall in 53.90 seconds in the 100 free event.
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) was the only other Trinity swimmer to earn two individual victories, winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.86, then taking the top spot in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:12.40. Burns was also a part of the second-place 200 medley relay team that opened up the meet, as well as finishing second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.77.
Erica Peterson (Lantana, Texas / Guyer) scored the first Tiger victory on Saturday with her winning time of 11:26.90 in the 1,000 free. She was also third behind Burns in the 200 IM with a time of 2:19.77.
Erin Morie (St. Louis, Mo. / Cor Jesu Academy) won the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.56 and was third in the 500 free with a time of 5:39.81.
Audrey Jacobson (Dallas, Texas / School for the Talent and Gifted) finished with a time of 5:17.88 to win the 500 free and also finished second in the 200 free (2:00.30).
Trinity swept both diving events on Saturday, as
Brooklyn Fuscone (Hoffman Estates, Ill. / Hoffman Estates) won the 1-meter competition with a score of 238.65 and took the 3-meter title with a total of 280.00 points.
Kara Moss (Houston, Texas / Stratford) was second with a score of 221.10 on the 3-meter board and was also third in the 1-meter event (164.55).
Alexana Heinrich (Lubbock, Texas / Lubbock) earned a bronze medal with her score of 196.15 in the 3-meter contest.
In addition to being a part of the winning 200 free relay, Myers and Benson also joined Burns and
Jules Wiehrdt (Waco, Texas / Midway) as the runner-up in the 200 medley relay race with a time of 1:50.55. Myers also finished third in the 50 free with a time of 25.32 seconds, while Wiehrdt picked up an individual bronze with a time of 55.77 seconds in the 100 free.
Lindsay McKinney (Victoria, Texas / Saint Joseph) was the 100 breaststroke runner-up with a time of 1:12.02, but was also a part of the third-place 200 medley relay team that finished in 1:56.15. That relay team also featured
Elizabeth Molique (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Saguaro),
Allison Ortiz (Houston, Texas / Stratford), and
Rachel Brown (Flower Mound, Texas / Marcus). Molique and Ortiz were also a part of the bronze medal team in the 200 free relay, partnering up with
Julia Carter (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) and
Kylee Hutchinson (Corpus Christi, Texas / Flower Bluff) for a time of 1:44.03. Carter also earned an individual medal by finishing third in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.98, while Ortiz was the runner-up in the 100 fly with a time of 1:00.73.
Also finishing as individual runners-up were
Bethany Mueller (Buda, Texas / Hays),
Renee Trombley (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), and
Ellie Devens (Houston, Texas / Tomball). Mueller finished second in the 200 back with a time of 2:16.23, while Trombley snagged silver in the 500 free after touching the wall in 5:35.91. Devens posted a time of 2:18.94 to finish second in the 200 IM.

Cathleen Pruden. "Despite dealing with injury and illness this week, they showed up ready to race. It's fun to see growth in how they carry themselves throughout the season. This group is going to be ready to shine at SCAC Championships."
