Senior forward
Eliese Hansberry scored 18 points to lead Colorado College to an 88-74 victory over Piedmont College on Sunday afternoon at Reid Gymnasium.
The Tigers won the 2009 Colorado College Tip-Off Tournament title with a 2-0 record.
Hansberry scored half of her points during the first half to help CC build a 48-31 lead at the break. She got help from freshman guard Collier Clegg, who scored 11 of her 16 points in the opening 20 minutes.
Hansberry added a game-high 11 rebounds to complete her 10th career double-double.
Alyssa Aldaz caught fire in the second half, scoring 12 of her career-high 16 points to help the Tigers build a 24-point lead.
Sophomore forward Becky Luetjen, who led CC with 19 points during Friday's victory over Augustana, added eight points, four assists and three steals and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Aldaz and Clegg also were all-tournament selections.
The Lions closed the gap at end thanks to the efforts of Alyssa Jones, who exploded for 19 of her game-high 26 points in the final 20 minutes. Amber Satterfield and Lindsey Logan added 11 points apiece for Piedmont (0-2). Jones was named to the all-tournament team, along with Augustana's Natalie Rungee.
CC plays at home again next weekend when the Tigers face Whitworth College and Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, in the 2009 Colorado College Thanksgiving Tournament.
