MacKenzie Strikes Twice as CC Tops Austin

Box Score Caden MacKenzie recorded the third brace of his career to power Colorado College to a 2-1 victory over Austin College on Sunday afternoon.

MacKenzie put the 24th-ranked Tigers on the board when he scored from the penalty spot in the 20th minute.

The senior forward gave CC a 2-0 lead a little less than 15 minutes into the second half when he took a header from junior midfielder Tim Huettel and slipped the ball around 'Roos goalkeeper Joseph Khalaf.

MacKenzie and Huettel each extended their point streak to three games.

Colorado College's two-goal advantage last just 44 seconds because sophomore midfielder Phillip Le chased down a long pass from junior forward Thomas Quick and scored with a crossing shot to the left post.

Le's goal snapped CC's shutout streak at a season-long 462:03.

The Tigers launched a season-high 25 shots, compared to only six for the 'Roos.

Colorado College, which amassed a 9-3 advantage in corner kicks, improved 8-1-1 overall and 6-1-0 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Junior goalkeeper Joseph Khalaf stopped 11 shots for Austin, which dropped to 6-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the SCAC.

CC continues its seven-game home stand next Friday night when No. 1 Trinity University visits Washburn Field.
