TLU Baseball Shuts Out St. Thomas, 1-0

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Baseball shut out St. Thomas, 1-0, in the series opener on Friday at Katt-Isbel Field. The duo of Joe Burch (Geronimo/Navarro) and Blade Strzelczyk (San Antonio/East Central) pitched the Bulldogs (16-7, 6-1 SCAC) first shutout of the season.

Burch made his eighth start of the season, pitching seven scoreless innings with five strikeouts to pick up his fourth win of the season. He allowed five hits and gave up one walk. Strzelczyk relieved Burch in the eighth and pitched two scoreless innings to pick up his fourth save of the season - finishing with three strikeouts, only allowing one hit and one walk.

Texas Lutheran scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Blade Strzelczyk would reach first on a throwing error from the St. Thomas shortstop bringing home Joe Jimenez (San Antonio/Johnson) to get Texas Lutheran on the board.

St. Thomas would leave eight men on base including leaving the bases loaded in the top of the second inning.

Texas Lutheran will look to clinch a series win as they will face off in a doubleheader with St. Thomas on Saturday at Katt-Isbel Field to wrap the weekend conference series. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 PM and 4 PM. All streaming and live stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
