GEORGETOWN, TX- The Southwestern Pirates women's soccer team continued their challenging preseason with a Home match versus the 5-0 McMurry Warhawks on Friday, Sep 15, 2023. 

The Warhawks came into the match with one of their best starts in program history led by sophomore, forward, #12 Emily Holland. The Warhawks came out very aggressive, racking up multiple shots in the first five minutes. Once again, the Pirate's defense matched the intensity and set the tone for the game. 

While the Warhawks were getting off shots, the Pirates were there to disrupt each and every shot and Holland struggled to find her rhythm. 

Late in the first half, Samantha Hazen received a perfectly placed pass from Jackie Powell, and scored the lone goal of the first half. 

The Pirates were able to defend their home turf for the remainder of the match and finish with the 1-0 win, snapping the War Hawk's win streak. 

The Pirates are back at it again, Sunday the 17th at Home, versus Howard Payne at 12:00 PM CDT.
