RICHARDSON, Texas – The 20th-ranked Tiger women's golf team finished as the runner-up at the Texas Cup on Monday, trailing tournament host and team champion University of Texas-Dallas.
Trinity finished eight shots ahead of third-place Concordia University (Texas), which was more than 30 strokes ahead of the nearest team. No. 6/7 UT-Dallas increased its 10-shot lead from yesterday's round to hold on for the win.
Also finishing as the runner-up was sophomore
Alejandra Sanchez De La Fuente Molino (Marbella, Spain / Atalaya), who shot a total score of 150 for the event and was seven shots behind the individual winner. Sanchez tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring for the 36-hole event, while also tying for second with 21 total pars.
Junior
Kiona Hsiu (Missouri City, Texas / Elkins) led all golfers in par-5 scoring for the tournament and was Trinity's leader with seven total birdies – one ahead of Sanchez. Hsiu finished fourth individually with her two-day total of 158, including her second-round score of 80 today. Hsiu and Sanchez were both named to the All-Tournament Team.
Finishing in a tie for 11th individually was junior
Erin Flynn (League City, Texas / Clear Falls), who opened the tournament with a 79 on Sunday, and finished with a total of 164 over the two days of action. Fellow junior
Lucy Hansen (Gilbert, Ariz. / Campo Verde) had the team's best improvement from yesterday's round, finishing her week with a score of 82.

Trinity will be back in action on April 3-4 at the West Region Invitational, which is hosted by Southwestern University at the Berry Creek Country Club.
