IRVING, Texas – Jake Swonke's game winning goal with under six minutes remaining in the game gave the Pirates a 2-1 win over the University of Dallas and secures the Pirates a spot in the post season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half Southwestern's Andres Carreno-Mendez gave the Pirates the lead in the 61st minute after he broke a tackle and sent a perfect ball into the right upper 90.
- The University of Dallas tied the game on an SU own goal in the 86th minute and the game went into overtime.
- Luckily, the Pirate mistake didn't hurt SU as Swonke scored the golden goal, assisted by Rory McCullough and Clay Martin in the 95th minute.

UP NEXT
With the win Southwestern improves to 6-10 on the year and 6-5 in the SCAC. They move into fourth place in the conference and are four games ahead of Austin College with three games remaining therefore securing a spot in the SCAC Championship. The Pirates return home to face Schreiner (6-9, 4-7) on Friday at 8 pm.
