THE BASICS

Balanced scoring and a strong defensive effort lifted the Eagles to a 88-70 win over Austin College Tuesday night. The Eagles, now winners of three of their last four games, had five players reach double figures in scoring and the Eagles forced 17 turnovers. The Eagles also limited Austin College to a 41 percent shooting clip from the field. The Eagles built a 31-26 halftime lead and then got 12 points from Zach Bobo and Jacobe Davis in the second half to push the team to 57 second half points. The high-scoring guard play of the Eagles resulted in two other perimeter players – Cordy Winston and Bryson Johnson – to hit the double figure mark in scoring in the second half. Leading by seven points around the midway point of the second half, Winston nailed a three-pointer to jumpstart a 7-0 run and increase the advantage to 57-43. The Eagles hit over 50 percent from the field for the second straight game. Winston and Johnson led the Eagles with 15 points. Davis and Bobo had 14 points and Ethan Bowman added 11 points.
