SHERMAN, TEXAS – Regis College rallied from a 2-1 match deficit to defeat Paul Quinn College in five sets before falling to Austin College as the Pride's Texas trip concluded Saturday at Hughey Gym.

REGIS 3, PAUL QUINN 2 (25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-10)

The Pride were led by a triple-double from Ahnasia Mckinney (Chelmsford, Mass.) with 11 kills, 25 assists, and 11 digs. Kamdyn Tenorio (Irvine, Calif.) notched a double-double with 12 kills and a team-high 17 digs, plus she earned four service aces and posted a .478 hitting percentage. Kate Montigny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led the Pride with 14 kills and four total blocks, while Aryam Serrano-Monserrate (Lake Forest, Calif.) notched five service aces and Rita Dow (Nashua, N.H.) added four service aces to the winning effort.

In the fourth set, the Pride took the early lead before the Tigers put together a 6-1 scoring run to pull ahead, 9-6. Regis responded with an 8-1 scoring run of its own, featuring two service aces from Serrano-Monserrate and two kills apiece by Tenorio, Mckinney, and Dow. Paul Quinn College pulled to within two at 18-16 on a kill by Marquise Nelson, but the Pride closed out the set with a 7-2 scoring run, capped by two more aces from Serrano-Monserrate, to force the deciding fifth set.

Valerie Whalen (Stoughton, Mass.) led the Pride early in the fifth set with two kills and a block assist as they opened an 8-3 advantage. After the Tigers scored the next two points, the teams basically traded points before Regis picked up the final two points of the match on a Tiger service error and a kill by Whalen.

Regis opened the match with five straight points, featuring three consecutive service aces by Tenorio. The Tigers capped a 4-0 run with two service aces from Ariel DeVault, but the Pride stayed ahead throughout the opening set. Shelbriana Myers brought the Tigers within one at 21-20 with three kills, but Regis responded by scoring four of the final five points of the set.

Paul Quinn College took the early lead in the second set and eventually extended it to nine points on a service ace by Ceyara Cox. The Tigers made just one attack error in the set as they posted a .476 hitting percentage, clinching the set on a kill by Alaya Lecoq.

The Pride took a 7-3 lead early in the third set on consecutive aces from Dow as well as kills by Ayla Albers (San Diego, Calif.) and Mckinney. After the Tigers pulled into a 10-10 tie, Regis put together a 7-2 scoring run, including two kills from Albers as well as a solo block and a service ace by Dow. Paul Quinn College answered with a 10-1 scoring run, capped by a kill from Shawnacy Donison, as it eventually won the third set to pull ahead in the match.

Kennadi Harris led the Tigers with 14 kills, three service aces, and 19 defensive digs, while Myers finished with 11 kills and Lecoq added seven kills and four total blocks. Jayda Trinidad collected 33 assists, two service aces, and nine digs, and Nelson earned eight kills while making just one attack error for a .412 hitting percentage.

AUSTIN 3, REGIS 0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-13)

Montigny again led the Pride offensively with nine kills, with Dow earning seven kills, two service aces, and two total blocks. Mckinney dished out 18 assists to go along with five kills and six digs, Kaitlyn Miller (Nottingham, N.H.) contributed 13 assists, and Tenorio added four kills, two service aces, and a match-high 15 digs.

The Pride scored the first four points of the match and eventually extended their lead to six at 10-4 on kills by Mckinney and Montigny. Down 16-12 after a kill by Dow, Austin rallied back with a 6-1 scoring run, punctuated by a block from Cheyenne Dantonio and Olivia Linton. After a block by Mckinney and Dow tied the set at 20-20, the 'Roos closed out the set by scoring five of the final six points, capped by consecutive kills from Linton.

Austin scored the first two points of the second set on a kill by Victoria Smith and a service ace from Riley Abernethy, and the home team would eventually extend its advantage to 15-7 with four straight points, featuring back-to-back aces from Abernethy. The Pride answered with four consecutive points of their own, including two service aces from Dow, but the 'Roos would maintain their advantage, winning the set on a kill by Jaiden Tocquigny.

Tenorio notched a kill and a service ace to open the third set, and Albers collected three straight kills to put the Pride on top, 6-3. With the score tied at 10-10, Austin took control, rattling off a 15-3 scoring run to close out the set and the match.

Smith led the 'Roos with seven kills, while Tocquigny finished with six kills, five digs, and four total blocks. Abernethy also ended up with six kills to go along with six service aces and five digs, Brianne Tseng dished out 21 assists, and Tatum Torres led the Austin defensive effort with 13 digs.

Regis College (1-3) opens its home schedule against Worcester State Tuesday, Sept. 6, starting at 6 p.m. at Higgins Court.
