St. Thomas Soars Past Schreiner 74-69

Men's basketball picked up another SCAC victory defeating the Schreiner Mountaineers 74-69. A six point lead at the end of the first half was strong enough to keep Schreiner away to give the Celts a five-point victory.

Picking up right where he left off, Calvin Williams IV had a strong first half with five field goals and scoring 11 points. He also stole two balls and contributed to nine first-half Schreiner turnovers. With their back against the wall, Schreiner committed six late fouls to give St. Thomas opportunities at the line, and add five points in the process.

In the second half, it was all Calen Anderson on both sides of the ball, halting Schreiner opportunities. Anderson had 11 rebounds which helped St. Thomas outrebound the Mountaineers 41-30, and score 15 second-chance points. Although Schreiner was able to cause eight Celt turnovers, any chance at a comeback was too late as the clock hit zero with the Celts winning by six.

Calen Anderson had a double-double in the game with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Calvin Williams IV also contributed to the offensive effort with 20 points in the game.
