Sophomore goaltender Elena Stern recorded double-digit saves for the third time this season as the No. 22 Colorado College women's lacrosse team posted a 19-11 victory over MIT on Wednesday afternoon at Stewart Field.

The Tigers improved to 9-0, the program's longest winning streak to open a season since the 2005 squad began the year with 10 consecutive wins en route to a berth in the national semifinals of the NCAA Tournament.

Stern stopped nine shots during the first half, including a pair on free-position shots in a span of 57 seconds.

The Engineers were within three goals after Eva Then scored with a little less than five minutes to play before halftime, but a pair of Ellie Meyer goals just 53 seconds apart gave CC a 9-5 lead, and Eva King struck for the first of her three goals just seven seconds before the break.

Colorado College carried the momentum into the second half and added five more scores to build a 15-5 cushion with 24:22 to play.

MIT trimmed its deficit to eight goals with 7:37 remaining, but that proved to be as close as it would get.

Meyer led all scorers with a season-high four goals for the Tigers. Maggie O'Donnell finished with a game-high six points on two goals and four assists.

King added three goals and a pair of assists, while Laura Pejza and Avery Melville produced three goals and set up one other.

Colorado College finished with a 32-25 advantage in total shots and a 16-13 edge in ground balls.

Meyer also recorded game highs with four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Eva Then led the Engineers with three goals, while Cecilia McCormick, Joyce Noh and Ali Hoffman added three apiece.

Naomi Lutz scooped up five draw controls for MIT, which won 17 of 32 as a team.

Colorado College travels to Southern California this weekend for games at Occidental College and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
