GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University scored nine runs over the course of the seventh and eighth innings on Saturday afternoon to pull away from the Austin College baseball team, topping the 'Roos 14-3 to sweep the weekend series. The 'Roos are now 5-11 overall and 1-5 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Pirates plated four runs in the bottom of the first to grab a big early lead, but Austin College fought back with three runs in the top of the third. Jake Webster, Cody Goggins, and James Wyche each drove in a run during the inning to make it 4-3 through three. Southwestern added a run in the fourth to push it to a 5-3 game, and that's where things would stand heading into the seventh. However, the Pirates pushed five runs across in the bottom of the seventh to open things up, and put the game away with four more runs in the eighth to make it a 14-3 final.

Oscar Gonzalez took the loss for Austin College, surrendering four runs on five hits in an inning of work. Wyche led Austin College at the dish, going 3-for-4, while six other players had one hit apiece.
