CC holds on for an 84-80 win over Hendrix

Nick Rose poured in 37 points and Brady Ohlsen posted his sixth double-double of the season to help Colorado College hang on for an 84-80 victory over Hendrix College on Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.

The Tigers improved to 13-11 overall and 9-6 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. CC, which snapped a five-game skid, locked up the second in seed from the Western Division for next weekend's SCAC Tournament.

Chris Goodman knocked down back-to-back shots from behind the three-point line as the Warriors jumped out to a 17-9 lead during the first five and a half minutes and maintained an eight-point advantage until there was just under seven minutes to play in the first half.

Rose, who eclipsed the 30-point barrier for the 11th time in his career, scored 25 in the first half to keep the Tigers within striking distance. After Goodman put Hendrix up 32-25, Rose scored CC's final 11 points to cut the Warrior lead to 37-36 after 20 minutes.

Ben Foley scored six points during a 21-5 run that allowed Colorado College to turn a seven-point deficit into a 60-51 lead when Rose buried his third three-point shot with 8:54 to play.

The Tigers appeared to be in control after Ryan Mine knocked down a pair of free throws with 1:45 to go, but CC missed three consecutive foul shots and gave up a layup off a turnover.

Hendrix pulled to within 81-78 after James Ewing scored with 50 seconds to play, and after Ian Rewoldt made the second of two free throws, Jaren Riley's layup cut the Warrior's deficit to two points.

Milne calmly sank a pair of free throws with 16 seconds to play, and Foley secured the victory when he grabbed the rebound of a jumper by Riley with under 10 seconds to go.

Ohlsen the 17th double-double of his career with 14 points and 10 rebounds before fouling out with 1:49 to go. He also dished out five assists to become the 20th player in program history to reach 150 in a career.

Foley scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half.

Nick Heathscott led the Warriors with 21 points. Colton Primm had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Colorado College plays host to Millsaps College in the regular season finale on Sunday afternoon.
