Texas Lutheran University scored 11 consecutive points midway through the second half and held off a late Colorado College rally to record a 79-64 victory in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Tigers were within 41-40 when freshman forward
Devin Martinez scored with 14:34 remaining in the game, but TLU answered with the pivotal run and opened a commanding 12-point cushion midway through the second half.
CC clawed its way back to within 63-56 on a layup by freshman guard
Scott Cunningham with 2:49 to play, however the Bulldogs answered with a 12-5 surge to put the game out of reach.
Texas Lutheran sealed the victory by going 6-for-6 from the charity stripe during the final 29 seconds.
Colorado College built a 24-13 lead when junior forward
CooXooEii Black scored with 7:42 remaining in the first half, but the Bulldogs utilized a 15-2 surge to reclaim the lead on a three-pointer by Nathan Josephs a little more than four minutes later.
Black paced the Tigers with 18 points, going 7-for-11 from the floor. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
Cunningham finished with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Eric Jonas added 10 points for the Tigers, who dropped to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.

Josephs finished with a game-high 21 points for Texas Lutheran, which improved to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the conference.
Sebastian Andrade produced 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
Jackson Willoughby added 14 points and three blocked shots.
Colorado College visits Southwestern University on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT.
