Kendall Accetta, the 26
th-ranked Colorado College women's cross country team placed fourth among 42 Division III teams at the prestigious Augustana College Invitational Saturday morning in Rock Island, Ill.
Accetta paced the Tigers with a 10
th-place individual finish, covering the 6K course in a personal-best time of 21:52.9. Freshman
Willow Lott placed 22
nd with a time of 22:30.1, followed by junior
Elliot Singer in 24
th in 22:35.1.
The Tigers finished the meet with 148 points, just ahead of 16
th-ranked Calvin University with 165, No. 20 Wisconsin-Eau Claire (218) and No. 18 UC Santa Cruz (228). SCAC foe Trinity University placed 13
th with 467 points. The three teams that finished ahead of Colorado College are all currently ranked in the top 10 in the nation.
Sophomores
Alison Mueller-Hickler (22:49.9) and
Ella Fullerton (23:06.9) finished 39
th and 54
th, respectively, to close out the scoring for CC.
"We have been battling back from some minor setbacks," head coach
Alex Nichols said. "They came into this meet not quite 100% and still put up an amazing performance. The depth of the squad is what made the difference today. Once we're back to full strength, this team will be a force at nationals."
The Tigers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the SCAC Championship Meet in Seguin, Texas.
