Ohlsen hits 1,000 points as CC edges Millsaps

Colorado College overcame a seven-point deficit midway through the second half to post a 55-51 victory over Millsaps College in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Sunday afternoon.

Nick Rose scored what proved to be the game-winning basket with 59 seconds to play, and his free throws with five second to go sealed CC's first victory in four attempts at The Hangar Dome.

The Tigers went ahead for good when Ian Rewoldt drained a pair of free throws with 3:28 remaining, part of an 8-3 run to close out the game.

Brady Ohlsen finished with 11 points to become the 17th member of the program's 1,000-point club and hauled in nine rebounds to help Colorado College build a decisive 42-28 advantage on the glass. Rose and Rewoldt grabbed seven boards apiece.

Ryan Milne recorded a game-high 16 points and added five assists without a turnover. Rose added 14 points and three assists.

The Majors led 43-36 after Jeremy McLemore drained a three-pointer with 9:42 to play, but Millsaps made only two of 10 shots field-goal attempts and just three of eight free throws the rest of the game. The Majors also had six turnovers during that span.

Nick Cortese made four of five three-point shots and led the Majors with 12 points, while Taylor Meades added 10.

The Tigers improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the SCAC, marking the first time they have opened the conference schedule with back-to-back victories on the road. Millsaps slipped to 3-3 overall and 0-2 in league play.

Colorado College is idle until Dec. 14 when the Tigers play host to Division II Colorado State University-Pueblo at Reid Gymnasium.
