
The University of St. Thomas Men's Soccer team fell to Trinity University today after a hard-fought 90-minuttes. After an evenly matched first half, the Tigers claimed a 5-2 victory over the Celts.
The Celts first and only first half opportunity came at the 25th minute when Joshua Lockhart rippled a shot from outside the box, ultimately being saved by the Tigers' keeper. Goalkeeper Rodrigo Lazo was solid for UST as he weathered a baarage of Trinity shots to open up the contest.
As the second half kicked off, Trinity would open up being the aggressors. A Tiger freekick at the 49th minute led to their first goal after scoring a rebound. Trinity would attain control for rest of the half, netting three more goals. Trailing 4-0, the Celts would kept battling, as there first goal would come in the 81st minute. Forward Ian Alvarez would capitalize on a one-on-one with a Tiger defender to put UST on the board. The Tigers would answer back with a goal of their own setting the score at 5-1. However, with time winding down, Gabe Salako would finish the game scoring the Celts second goal. This is Salako's second consecutive game netting a goal.
The Celts return to action April 10th as they host Austin College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 P.M.
