St Thomas Celts Beat ETBU Tigers 4-0

The University of St. Thomas Men's Soccer team took down East Texas Baptist 4-0 on the road. Throughout the match, the Celts showed dominance as they limited the Tigers to just five shots.

The Celts would open the scoring in the 25th minute with Taty Aleman picking up his seventh of the season. Ayomide Salako would follow him ten minutes later to put the Celts up 2-0. The scoring barrage would continue with Daniel Castro putting one in the back of the net in the 38th minute. Finally, Castro would convert one more before the end of the first half to give St Thomas the 4-0 lead.

In the second half, the ETBU defense tightened, and would not allow another goal against 24 total shots. On the flip side, Cristo Gayoso and his Celt defense would hold strong in goal to record the shutout.

"Today was a very good win," Head Coach Ian Clerihew said. "Getting the clean sheet was an important part of the result."

Up next, Men's Soccer wraps up their non-conference schedule at home against Hardin Simmons on September 22nd at 6:30 pm.
