No. 10 Trinity Takes Round Two

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Concordia Wisconsin baseball team took on the 10th-ranked Tigers of Trinity on Saturday night. The Tigers took round two with a 7-1 victory to improve to 7-4 and send CUW to 0-2 on the young season.

Senior Johannes Haakenson (Janesville, Wis.) started the game with a single through the left side of the infield.

The Tigers struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning.

Freshman Matt Miller (Fredonia, Wis.) had his first of three hits in the second inning with a single up the middle. He struck again in the fifth inning with a single to right field.

The Maroon and White added two more runs on a double in the third inning.

Sophomore Zach Slome (Schaumburg, Ill.) retired 10-straight batters after the double.

Senior Sean Tillmon (Plainfield, Ill.) started the seventh inning with a walk. Junior Jimmy Juergensen (Cedarburg, Wis.) advanced Tillmon to second and another single from Matt Miller to center field scored Tillmon for the Falcons' first run.

Slome finished the start with three strikeouts and only one walk.

Junior Ben Spiers (Waukesha, Wis.) posted a perfect 1-2-3 inning on the mound in the seventh.

The Tigers added a run with a bases-loaded walk in the eighth inning and followed that up with an infield single that added another run and then a fielder's choice to add the third and final run of the inning.

The Falcons and the Tigers close the weekend series on Sunday morning.
