ABILENE, Texas – McMurry University's men's swimmers came out on the short end of a 140-64 score versus visiting Austin College on Saturday at the Phillips Family Center.
Junior
Jerick Pena swam what was the most exciting race of the day for the men, winning the 100-yard butterfly by less than one second over the Kangaroos' Collin Vu. Pena also earned a runner-up in the 100 backstroke (57.86). Pena also swam the anchor leg on the War Hawks' winning 200 freestyle relay winner (along with teammates
Austin Gombas,
Zakai Love and
Brayden Miller)
Newcomer
Jeremiah Atkins was McM's only other individual event winner, taking the 400 individual medley in a clocking of 4:25.37 minutes. Atkins was also third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.68).
McM received runner-up finishes from Gombas in the 200 freestyle (1:57.69),
Dany Baki in the in the 500 freestyle (5:39.30) and Miller in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.91).
Miller was also third in the 50 freestyle and Gombas third in the 100 freestyle.
