IRVING, TexasSamantha Hazen used an assist and a goal in the first half to help lead the Southwestern University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over the University of Dallas on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory by the Pirates and a Schreiner tie with St. Thomas. Southwestern is guaranteed no worse than the three-seed in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament and at-best a two-seed.

Regardless of the seed, Southwestern will face Texas Lutheran in the semifinals of the four-team extravaganza beginning Nov. 4 at Trinity University in San Antonio.

In today's victory, Sydney Boswell got the scoring started in the 28th minute when she finished a looping pass into the box from the right side from Boswell. Madison Koehn was also credited with an assist on the play that resulted in Boswell's third goal of the season.

Hazen added an insurance goal in the 33rd minute when a loose ball of multiple blocked shot attempts came to her feet and was eventually pelted into the back of the net past the Crusaders' starting goalie Briana Salinas for a 2-0 advantage.

Couple with her eighth assist earlier in the contest and now her sixth goal of the season, Hazen has amassed 20 points with at least two regular season and one postseason contest to go. Hazen's goals and points tallies are fifth in the SCAC while her assists numbers are third-best in the conference.

The Crusaders would make a change at goalie at the halftime break in hopes of keeping their postseason dreams alive with a comeback, but Mia Reyna would have none of those thoughts when all that was on her mind was blasting the ball past Dallas' Kaitlyn Vess, which she did thanks to an assist from Alexis Guajardo in the 56th minute for a 3-0 Pirates lead.

Neither team could manage any offensive output the rest of the way, but the damage had already been done as Southwestern advanced to 9-4-4 overall and 8-2-1 in the SCAC while Dallas dropped to 4-10-2 overall and 3-6-2 in conference play.

Johnna Campbell was stoic in goal once again for the Pirates as she saved all three shots she faced while her counterparts Salinas and Vess had to combine for nine saves.

As the score indicated, Southwestern dominated the pace of play and held advantages in shots (20-8), shots on goal (12-3) and corner kicks (6-3).
