SHREVEPORT, LA. – On their last road trip of the season, the Southwestern women's soccer team ended their final conference game in a second overtime win over the Centenary Ladies Sunday afternoon.
The freshman duo of Juliet Pridgen, who scored the first goal for the Pirates,and Karlee Holmes, who shot the game-winning goal in the second overtime, gave the team the much-needed scores to win.
At the beginning of the game, both the Pirates and Ladies were off to a slow start in trying to sink a goal into the back of the net. Within the first thirty minutes, Southwestern took six shots while Centenary took four shots, with no results. However, within the last few minutes before the half, Pridgen was able to break the scoreless game and sink the first goal, giving the Pirates the lead before halftime.

Pridgen, who has scored five of her six season goals in conference play, has shown her skill not only helping the team with her own offensive prowess but also by giving her teammates three assists that have helped the Pirates win three games.
The Pirates were able to hold Centenary scoreless for most of the second half, however, the Ladies rallied and took ten shots at the Pirates goal while Southwestern only attempted two shots,
The half ended with Centenary's Kyra Montes scoring a goal to tie the score within the last few minutes of the game. In the first overtime, both teams were unable to score a shot. That lead to a second overtime where Holmes, who is normally a defender for the Pirates, scored the game-winning goal to end the Pirates regular season 15-4 and 6-2 in the conference.
Holmes has scored three goals this season. Two of her goals, including the one scored against Centenary, have been the game-winning shots.

Senior goalie Mary Cardone had five saves in the game against Centenary and finished the regular season with 89 saves and was the individual leader in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) with a .881 save percentage.
