IRVING, TX -- Texas Lutheran opened postseason play against Southwestern University on the campus of University of Dallas in Irving, TX, Friday evening and would fall 4-0 to the Pirates.
The Bulldogs made a late push on the attack - with a few opportunities in the second half but couldn't quite finish. Freshman Allison Avery (Houston/Cy-Falls) had 3 shots on the night to lead the Bulldogs. Goalkeeper Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) made 4 saves.
The Pirates outshot the Bulldogs 18-4 - maintaining an 8-0 advantage in shots on goal.
The Pirates opened the scoring early with Juliet Pridgen giving Southwestern a 1-0 lead just six minutes in. A Pridgen assisted goal pushed the Pirates ahead 2-0 in the 24th minute - a lead the Pirates would keep until halftime.
Late in the second half, the Pirates would score in close succession to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Bulldogs finish their season with a 6-11 record and a 3-5 record in the SCAC.
