DePauw edges Colorado College by a head

Kevin O'Grady scored in the 43rd minute to give No. 14 DePauw University a 1-0 victory against Colorado College in a defensive struggle on Sunday afternoon at CC's Stewart Field.

O'Grady's came off the bench to score the game's only goal, converting off a cross from Chris Taljan with a diving header that was perfectly placed between the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Brian McGhie and the near post.

The final statistics were as close as the score. DePauw finished with a 9-8 edge in total shots and both teams had five corner kicks.

McGhie finished with four saves for Colorado College, the best of which came with 1:16 to play when he punched away Kreigh Kamman's crossing shot destined for the lower right corner of the net.

Nate Sprenkel stopped three shots for the visitors, including Joel Dungan's drive toward the left post with 26 minutes remaining in the game to earn the victory in goal.

The young CC side was shut out for the fourth time this season and slipped to 6-7-2 overall and 4-4-0 in league play. DePauw improved to 13-1-1 and 7-0-1 in the conference by claiming its sixth one-goal victory in seven SCAC contests.

Colorado College goes on the road for the final time next weekend for a conference game at travel partner Austin College on Saturday and a match with future SCAC member University of Dallas on Sunday.
