Augsburg falls to Trinity 59-55

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Augsburg University women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought 59-55 loss to Trinity University (Texas) in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Auggies had another back-and-forth affair at Si Melby Hall that featured eight ties and eight lead changes. Despite claiming an 18-4 advantage in second-chance points and a 25-16 advantage in points off-turnovers, the Auggies struggled from beyond the arc, only connecting on 5-of-22 (22.7 percent). For the game, Augsburg shot 36.7 percent from the field (22-of-60), while Trinity connected on 44.9 percent (22-of-49) of its shot attempts. The Auggies posted a 37-33 advantage on the boards.
• Tamira McLemore (JR, Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) and Camryn Speese (JR, Bloomington, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) led Augsburg with 12 points apiece. McLemore added seven rebounds, to go along with five assists and three steals. Despite battling foul trouble, Speese was 5-for-6 from the floor, while adding six rebounds in just 19 minutes of action.
• Leading the Auggies on the boards was Jazmyn Solseth (SO, Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran HS), who finished with eight rebounds (five offensive), while adding six points and three steals.
• Aiza Wilson (JR, Minneapolis, Minn./DeLaSalle HS) added nine points for Augsburg, while Camille McCoy (SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center HS) pulled down six rebounds, to go along with four points and a pair of assists.

 FOR THE FOES
• Trinity was led by the duo of Abby Holland and Emily Daniel. Holland finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals, while Daniel added 10 points and four rebounds.

UP NEXT
• Augsburg is idle for the remainder of the calendar year and returns to action on Wednesday (1/2) at 7 p.m., traveling to St. Joseph, Minn. to take on the College of Saint Benedict.
