SEGUIN, Texas – The Celts of the University of St. Thomas withstood a late comeback attempt by Texas Lutheran on Friday and claimed a 77-74 win over the Bulldogs.

Sheridan Hopkins (Galveston, Texas / Ball) turned in a double-double performance with 31 points and 14 rebounds, while Bresha Orange (Longview, Texas / Panola College) chipped in 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting to lead the Celts.

The Celts (16-5) improved to 11-3 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. TLU (7-13) fell to 5-8 in conference play.

In a game that featured six ties and nine lead changes, the Celts led for most of the contest. UST held a six-point lead with less than two minutes remaining before TLU ran off six straight points to tie the game at 73-73 with 36 seconds remaining.

On their next trip down the floor, Hopkins knocked down a midrange jumper to regain the lead for the Celts. Two seconds later, TLU's Morgan Rodriguez was fouled and made one out of two free throws.

The Bulldogs were then forced to foul a UST player and sent Orange to the free throw line. She sank both free throws to give the Celts a three-point lead with 11 seconds left. TLU had one more chance to tie, but Cami Davis' 3-point attempt was off the mark.

UST's road trip continues Saturday when they visit Southwestern. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
