Milne nets 20, but CC falls at Wartburg

Box Score Sophomore guard Ryan Milne scored 20 points, but Colorado College shot just 30.8-percent from the field and saw its three-game winning streak snapped with a 64-52 loss at Wartburg College on Saturday night.

The Tigers were within eight points after freshman forward Chris Lesnansky knocked down a jumper for two of his 12 points 6:51 into the second half, but the Knights re-gained control with a 12-2 run during the ensuing 3:25 to build a 52-34 lead with 9:44 remaining.

CC battled back to within 56-46 when Milne drained his third trey of the contest with 4:07 to play, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.

Eddie Diemer recorded game highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead Wartburg, while Jordan Sathoff was equally effective with 19 points and eight rebounds.

The Knights raced to a 13-3 as Colorado College missed six of its first seven shots. After the Knights took a 16-5 lead on a three-pointer by Brandon Flenor 8:58 into the first half, the Tigers used a pair of baskets by Milne and a trey by sophomore guard Jake Tramutolo to trim their deficit to five points.

CC pulled to within 19-16 when Milne drained a three-pointer with 4:56 remaining in the half, but Wartburg closed out the opening 20 minutes on a 9-3 run to build a 28-19 advantage at the break.

Lesnansky and junior forward Ian Rewoldt had six rebounds apiece to lead the Tigers.

Colorado College puts its share of first place in the West Division of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference on the line next Saturday when it travels to Conway, Ark., to face Hendrix College.
