Men's Soccer Drops Conference Opener

Men's Soccer Drops Conference Opener

Men's Soccer dropped their conference opener to the defending SCAC Champions as two late scores by Colorado College handed them victory.

The match started slow with both teams having small looks at the goal, but none were threatening enough to apply real pressure on the goalkeepers. The Celts gained the advantage early as they answered first in the 27th minute. A corner kick from Jair Perez set up Fabrizio Policastro to punch in his first career goal. The rest of the half was controlled by the Tigers as their attacks challenged the Celts defense. After a barrage of shots were stopped by Rodrigo Lazo, UST went into the half leading by one.

The second half mirrored the start of the first half as both teams struggled to find their groove. However, midway through the half, the intensity of the game seemed to switch as each team started to have near chances of scoring. After multiple shots on goal were fended off by UST, Colorado College was finally able to net the equalizing goal tying the match at 1-1. The Tigers maintained their attacking nature for the remainder of the game, repeatedly challenging UST's defense. As the Celts seemed to answer every Colorado College attack, the Tigers eventually capitalized in the final minute of the game off a corner kick, giving them the 2-1 advantage.

Men's Soccer will travel to Seguin next Saturday to take on Texas Lutheran University at 2:30PM.
