Seniors fuel 3-0 victory over JWU

Box Score Brandon Ogilvie, Andrew Salazar and Kai Thompson made the most of their final home game in a Colorado College uniform.

Ogilvie struck for his sixth game-winning goal of the season, Salazar recorded a career-best four points with a goal and two assists, and Thompson made six saves en route to a shutout in his first career game. The end result was a 3-0 victory over Johnson & Wales University in a non-conference game on Wednesday afternoon at Stewart Field.

It took only 3:24 for Ogilvie to notch the only goal the Tigers would need. While making a run on the left side, the senior forward took a pass from Salazar and found the upper right corner with a shot from 12 yards out.

The duo clicked again a little more than eight minutes later, but this time it was Salazar who one-timed a cross from Ogilvie into the center of the net.

Ogilvie, who leads the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference with six game winners, now has five goals and three assists during his career-long five-game point streak.

Salazar picked up his second assist in the 60th minute when JWU goalkeeper Dante Di Ciolli was unable to control the rebound of his shot and junior midfielder Hunter Martinez was there to blast the rebound into the open net.

It was the first multiple-assist game for Salazar.

At the other end of the pitch, Thompson became the third different CC goalkeeper to record a clean sheet this season, joining sophomores Ian Horne (7) and Tom Crosby (1).

His best save occurred with 1:35 remaining in the first half on Eduardo Orduno's rising direct kick that was headed just below the cross bar.

Freshman defender Jack McCormick also earned his first career start for the Tigers, who posted their ninth shutout of the season.

Colorado College finished the contest with 32-9 advantage in total shots and a 2-0 edge in corner kicks.

The Tigers, who extended their winning streak to five games, improved to 12-5-2.

Di Ciolli stopped eight shots for the Wildcats, who slipped to 4-8-1.

CC visits the University of Dallas on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT for the final game of the regular season.
