Gents Fall 3-1 At LeTourneau On Sunday

Longview, Texas - The Centenary men's soccer team fell 3-1 to the LeTourneau University YellowJackets on Sunday evening in a non-conference match at the LeTourneau Soccer Field. 

The Gents (3-8-1) fell behind 2-0 at halftime and then each team scored a second-half goal for the final 3-1 margin. LeTourneau improved to 6-6 with the win.

Centenary senior GK Patrick Riley (Baton Rouge, La.) started and and played all 90 minutes and recorded a save. LeTourneau played a pair of goalies, one each half, as Kolton Johnson started and made one save and Ethan Aiken relieved him and played the second half and also made one save.

Ethan Anderson started the scoring with a goal in the eighth minute of the first half off an assist from Santi De La Torre. Just under 15 minutes later De La Torre scored for an unassisted goal and a 2-0 lead. Oliver Placencia found the net in the 63rd minute for a 3-0 lead with the assist credited to Russell Gray. The Gents got on the board in the final minute of the match as freshman F Ron Masti (Houston, Texas) scored an unassisted goal, his first-career goal. LeTourneau finished with a slight edge in shots (9-7) and took five corner kicks to four for the Gents.

The Gents (3-8-1) are back home for three-straight matches at Mayo Field beginning this weekend as they face Southwestern on Friday, Oct. 15 at 5 p.m., then Texas Lutheran on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Noon and finally Colorado College on Friday, Oct. 22 for their final home match of the regular season on Senior Night at 7 p.m.
