Pirates Return to Winning Ways with Shutout Victory

SEGUIN, Texas - Danielle De Los Santos spurred on the attack with two assists against Texas Lutheran University on Monday afternoon as the Pirates shutout the Bulldogs 3-0. The win improves SU to 6-6-1 on the year while TLU falls to 4-10.

It took just four minutes into the contest for the Pirates to take control of the game. De Los Santos crossed the ball into the middle, finding Rebecca Petro who drove the ball low and into the back of the net.

The rest of the first half was quiet in the scoring column even though the Pirates dominated the action, not allowing the Bulldogs a single shot in the opening frame.

De Los Santos aided in giving the Pirates some breathing room in the 73rd minute when her crossing ball drifted across the box to Allie Dillon. Dillon finished from the left of the goal into the right corner to put Southwestern up 2-0.

Less than seven minutes later SU made it three goals when Hannah Neil scored unassisted.

SU had full control of the game, taking 31 shots to TLU's 2. The Pirates had two corner kicks while allowing the Bulldogs none.

Southwestern returns to SCAC conference action on Friday as the Pirates host Hendrix at 5:00 pm for senior night.
