Bynum Leads Pirates to Victory over Roo's

GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern University's Ashton Bynum made two goals to lead the men's soccer team to a three-goal win over the Austin College Roos's o Sunday afternoon.

In their second match in conference play, the Pirates needed to get a win after a tie with the University of Dallas this past Friday.

In the first half, Bynum was quick to score the first goal in the game making it 1-0 within the first seven minutes. The Pirates still did not let down on their offense and attacked the Roo's defense, leading to the second Pirate goal scored by Seth Holzmann and assisted by Wil Mekelburg. With the Pirates up two goals, a comfortable lead was sealed before the halftime.

In the second half, Austin College tried attacking the Pirate goal, but the shots were too high for any real possibility of catching up to the Pirates. Once again Bynum would score the third goal unassisted, marking and his fourth career goal of the season. Austin College's Tyler Rahn was able to score a goal for the Roos, but with the Pirate's early lead, Austin College was unable to come back and the game ended 3-1 in a Pirates win.

Up next the Pirates will travel to Colorado to take on Colorado College on Friday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. and Johnson and Wales University on Sunday, Oct. 13 at 1:30 p.m.
