
SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Southwestern women’s soccer
team was unable to pull off the upset as they fell to the second
place Sewanee Tigers on Friday night 2-0. The Pirates fall to 7-8-1
on the season and 1-4-1 in SCAC action. Sewanee improved to 10-1-3
overall and 5-0-2 in the conference with the win.
Southwestern held strong through the first half and kept the game
scoreless through the first period. It took the Tigers, however,
just 47 seconds into the second half to get on the board. Spencer
added the final goal of the match on a cross from Colhoun to put
Sewanee up 2-0 and that is how it would end.
The Pirates were outshot 14-5 and in corners 7-5. First-year keeper
Sarah Nonaka had five saves during the contest while the
Tigers’ keeper Williams recorded three.
SU heads to Atlanta, GA to take on last place Oglethorpe on Sunday
at 1:00 pm.
