CC Falls to Whitman College

Sophomore guard Jade Odom scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds, however her efforts weren't enough to lift Colorado College past Whitman College on Friday night.

Makana Stone poured in 25 points to lead the Blues to a 99-60 victory in the 2018 Kim Evanger Raney Classic at the Sherwood Center.

After Odom knocked down a jumper to give CC an 11-9 lead midway through the first quarter, Whitman scored the final 18 points of the first quarter and the Tigers were unable to recover.

Stone gave Whitman a 42-16 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the first half, but Colorado College countered with an 18-8 surge to trim its deficit to 50-34 at halftime.

The Blues outscored CC 23-11 in the third quarter to end any hopes of a Tiger comeback.

Sophomore winger McKenzee Gertz finished with 15 points for Colorado College, reaching double-digits for the seventh time in eight games.

Senior guard Casey Torbet added 10 points and a team-high five assists for CC, which slipped to 4-4.

As a team, Whitman connected on 13 of 25 shots from behind the arc and its bench outscored the Tigers' reserves 26-4.

Made Burdett added 21 points for the Blues, who improved to 6-2.

Whitman also received 10 points and a game-high eight assists from Taylor Chambers.

Colorado College returns to action on Saturday when the Tigers take on Whitworth University at 2 p.m. PT.
