No. 12 Colorado College volleyball team faced tough competition in the final day of the Colorado College Invitational. The Tigers fell to two ranked opponents, No. 9 Juniata College and No. 15 Concordia College, Saturday afternoon in Reid Gymnasium.

Colorado College fell to Juniata, 3-1 (25-16, 20-25, 17-25, 19-25) in the first day's game of the tournament.

The Tigers won the first set, holding the Eagles to a -.077 hitting percentage. The Tigers had nine of their team's 18 blocks in the first set alone.

Juniata rallied back to win the game, holding CC to a meager .088 hitting percentage over the final three sets.

Junior Laura Goldsmith led the Tigers on defense with 14 digs, while senior Amy Schornack and freshman Julia Lawton added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.

Freshman Kristen Liberty led the CC offense with 10 kills. Junior Kate Squires, Goldsmith and Schornack each contributed to seven kills apiece for the Tigers.

Senior Haley Hamilton led CC at the net with a team-high six blocks, while Goldsmith added three blocks.

Colorado College fell to Concordia, 3-0 (14-25, 17-25, 21-25) in the final game of the tournament when it suffered from a poor attacking performance, hitting only a .092 hitting percentage over three sets.

Squires – an all-tournament selection – led the attack for the Tigers with a team-high seven kills. Schornack and Katie Harris each contributed to 20 and 10 assists, respectively to run the Tiger offense.  

Goldsmith led the defense with a team-high 12 digs, while Liberty picked up 10 digs on defense.

CC was 1-3 during the CC Invite and is now 9-3 on the season.

Colorado College hits the road for the first time this season, playing at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs on Sept. 21. The Tigers then travel to Sewanee, Tenn. to open conference action on Sept. 24-25.
