Brown Scores Career High Against St. Thomas  

HOUSTON, Texas —  Southwestern University senior Naomi Brown scored a career-high of 23 points against  St. Thomas Celts Sunday afternoon in the Jerabeck Center.

Coming off the bench, Brown had a strong second half by scoring 16 points against the Celts. Brown was 9- for-13 at the free-throw line and 7- for -18 from the field while also grabbing 17 rebounds, three assist and two steals.

Noel Pratts contributed 15 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Cecily Woolfolk scored 11 points and three rebounds. No other Pirate scored in double figures.

In the first minute of the game, Lauren Fulenwider sank a 3-pointer followed by a made jumper from Zhazze Brown. The Pirates were able to keep the game close, however, at the end of the first quarter, the Celts kept the Pirates to 11 points while St Thomas made the gap bigger scoring 15 points ahead of the Pirates. Once again the Pirates came out in the second quarter trying to score their way back into the game, but with shots not falling the Pirates went into the half 31-65.

In the second half, the Pirates were able to make the shots they could not find in the first half, but the Celts offense continued the same intensity they had in the first half, ending the game with a St. Thomas win 66-104.

Up next, the Pirates will take on the Austin College Roos on Friday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m., and the University of Dallas Saturday, Jan. 18 at 4 p.m. in the Corbin J. Robertson Center in Georgetown, Texas.
