Men's Soccer falls to Hardin-Simmons 2-1

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran Men's Soccer club lost to Hardin-Simmons 2-1 Friday night in a home non-conference match.

The Bulldogs are now 2-2 while the Cowboys of Hardin-Simmons improve to 1-4.

The Bulldogs outshot Hardin-Simmons 19-16 and held the corner kick advantage 8-3. Junior goalkeeper Caleb Weed (San Antonio/Warren) made five saves and kept the game from getting out of hand as the Bulldogs attempted to stage a comeback. After a scoreless first half from both clubs, Hardin-Simmons struck in the 47th and 58th minutes for their two goals in the match. Freshman Jair Ortega (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) scored the Bulldogs lone goal in the 85th minute as he attempted to spark a late match rally for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs made it interesting in the end with the match ending on a free kick from Jack Manke (Houston/Stratford) that nearly ended in an equalizer in the match's closing seconds.

Texas Lutheran returns to the pitch Sunday, Sept. 20th at 4 PM as McMurry University visits Gustafson Field. Live Stat and Streaming links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
