GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Sophomore Jackie Mangola drilled a 2-run home run, but No. 5-ranked Ohio Northern dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 10 DePauw (Ind.) on a wet Saturday afternoon in Game 11 of the NCAA Division III Greencastle Regional Softball Tournament at DePauw Tigers Field.
The Polar Bears fall into the losers bracket with a 39-6 record, while the Tigers advance to Sunday's Championship game with a 38-6 record.
Northern will play No. 17 Washington (Mo.), who eliminated Trine (Ind.) 7-5 Saturdayevening, at Noon Sund in the losers bracket finals.
DePauw will now play the winner of Sunday's losers bracket finals game for the NCAA Regional Championship Sunday at 2 pm.
The Polar Bears were not sharp in the game, which was played in on and off rain showers, committing three fielding errors and two baserunning errors that hurt their effort.
Three ONU pitchers gave up 11 DU base hits and walked three other batters as Northern was out-hit 11-4 in the contest.
"We were not sharp today," ONU head coach Annette Shepherd said. "Many of our mistakes were momentum-changers. Jackie and Mandi were outstanding at the plate, but as a group we did not hit well. Defensively, we struggled at times. DePauw is too good of a team to beat when you don't play well."
The Tigers got on the board first with an unearned run when Rachel MacBeth drew a leadoff walk and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Holly Paris after a Polar Bear fielding error on a sac bunt attempt extended the inning.
Jackie Mangola gave the Polar Bears a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first with a 2-run home run to center field.
Senior Mandi Fought laced the first pitch of the inning down the left field line for a double and Mangola followed with her school-record tying 12th home run of the season.
DePauw took advantage of two more ONU fielding errors in the top of the third to score a pair of runs and regain a 3-2 lead.
Brianne Weeks singled to shortstop and advanced to second on a throwing error.
Weeks scored on a single to left by Jen Kosinski, who then went to third on a fielding error. Kosinski then scored on a ground ball to second base to make it a 3-2 contest.
Haley Buchanan made it a 4-2 Tiger lead with a long home run to left field to lead off the fourth inning.
A two-out, two-run single to shallow left field by Weeks in the top of the fifth extended DePauw's lead to 6-2.
