The No. 14 Colorado College volleyball team opened conference play in Sewanee, Tenn. with a sweep over Oglethorpe College and host Sewanee: the University of the South, Saturday during the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference East-Central Crossover.
Colorado College beat Oglethorpe, 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-22) when it started conference play Saturday afternoon in Juhan Gymnasium.
Junior
Laura Goldsmith led the Tigers with nine kills, nine digs and three service aces.
Senior
Amy Schornack led the offense, dishing out a team-high 22 assists. Junior Brianna Sallee served a career-high four aces against the Stormy Petrels.
Senior
Hannah Varnell led CC on defense with 10 digs, while sophomore
Devin Wilkinson added a team-high three blocks at the net.
Colorado College finished the first day of conference action with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-12) win over host Sewanee in the final match of the day.
Freshman
Kristen Liberty led the team with 13 kills, while Schornack handed out a team-high 35 assists.
Varnell led the Tiger defense with a team-high 12 digs.
With the sweep, CC improved to 11-4 this season and 2-0 during SCAC action. Oglethorpe fell to 2-11 on the season and 0-2 in conference play, while Sewanee fell to 4-8 this season and 0-2 in conference action.
The Tigers continue conference play against Centre College at 11 a.m. and Birmingham-Southern College at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
