Lynx Take Double Header at Snowbird Classic

The Rhodes College baseball team defeated Utica College 10-2 and Ohio Wesleyan 6-3 this afternoon in the Snowbird Classic in Punta Gorda, FL.  Sophomore RHP Strother White picked the the victory in the first game and junior RHP Jackson Baker collected his 3rd victory of the year in the second game as the Lynx improve to 11-8 on the year.

Strother White made his first start of the season in the first game, working 6 scoreless innings en route to his first victory of the season.  White allowed 2 hits, 1 walk, and struck out 7 in his longest collegiate outing of his career.  Junior RHP James Todd worked the 7th and 8th for the Lynx allowing 1 hit, no walks, and struck out 4.  Senior RHP Chris Skoda finished off the 9th as he allowed 3 hits and 2 earned runs.  Sophomore OF Walker McWherter and junior OF Channing Arndt led the Lynx offense as they both were 3-4 on the day.  McWherter also had a double, scored 3 runs, and stole 2 bases.  Arndt drove in 2 and scored a run in addition to his 3 hits on the day.  Junior 1B Matt Killary was 2-4 with 2 RBIs.  Junior DH Matt Burnick was 2-3 with an RBI, run scored, and walked once.  Junior SS Lynden Pindling was 1-2 with an RBI, 2 runs scored, walked twice, and stole a base.

In the second game, Jackson Baker worked the first 5 innings on the mound, allowing 3 hits, 1 unearned run, walked 3, and struck out 4.  Senior RHP Brian Lainoff earned his first save of the season as he worked the final 4 frames for the Lynx.  Lainoff scattered 3 hits, allowed 2 runs, no walks, and struck out 3.  Junior SS Lynden Pindling was 2-3 on the day with an RBI and a walk.  Sophomore RF Patrick Kilkenny was 3-5 and drove in a run.  Sophomore OF Walker McWherter was 1-1 with a run scored and senior CF Travis Perkins was 1-4 with 2 runs scored and a walk.

Rhodes will finish off their spring trip tomorrow at 2:00 against Wooster.
