Freshman point guard Ryan Milne had game highs of 17 points and eight assists to lead Colorado College to an 82-53 victory over the University of Dallas on Friday night at Reid Gymnasium.
Milne made four of five three-point attempts during the first half when the Tigers shot just 39-percent from the floor. He had five of his assists during the second half when CC outscored the Crusaders 37-8 to build a 32-point advantage with 6:54 to play.
Colorado College's Nick Rose had 16 points and a career-high 14 rebounds for his fourth career double-double. He became the 32nd player in program history to reach 300 career rebounds and just the 10th to record 300 rebounds and 1,000 points.
Brady Ohlsen scored 13 points and six rebounds, while Jeremiah Waters and Ben Foley added 12 and 10, respectively.
Dallas led 28-22 with 6:02 remaining in the first half on a jumper by Braeton Hightower, but from that point on managed just 25 points. Drew Assinesi scored 10 of his team-high 15 points during the first 20 minutes.
The Tigers turned up the defensive intensity during the final three minutes of the first half, forcing turnovers on three consecutive possessions to turn a four-point deficit into a three point lead at the break
Waters scored eight points during a 16-0 run that gave CC a commanding 49-30 lead just 4:10 into the second half. After Jonathan Goodwin made a pair of free throws with 15:12 to play, the Tigers scored 21 of the next 27 points to take total command.
Colorado College finished with a 52-26 advantage in rebounds, including a 21-13 margin in the first half when it made only 11 of 28 field goal attempts.
The Tigers improved to 2-1, while the Crusaders dropped to 1-4. The teams will meet again on Jan. 9 in Irving, Texas.
The 2010 Colorado College Thanksgiving Classic continues on Saturday when Dallas squares off with Finlandia University at 5 p.m. CC plays Finlandia in the tournament finale on Sunday at 3 p.m.
