Box Score Courtney Tyus became the 11th player in the 40-year history of Colorado College women's basketball to record at least 1,000 career points on Saturday night at the University of Dallas.
Tyus, who recorded 12 of her 14 points during the second half, reached the milestone when she scored on a layup with 14:01 remaining in the contest.
The senior guard also dished out seven assists to join Melanie Auguste (2005-09) as the only Tigers to record 400 or more.
Unfortunately, those accomplishments were the bright spots in an 85-67 loss to the Crusaders.
After
Danielle Davis gave the Tigers an 8-7 lead 4:25 into the game, UD used a 25-5 run to build a 19-point lead with 7:05 remaining in the first half.
Junior guard
Katie Waters scored four of her 13 points during a 6-0 surge to help CC pull to within 11 points with 2:31 to play before the break, but that was as close as the Tigers would get.
Davis led Colorado College with a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds. The junior forward made seven of 11 shots from the floor and sand four of five free throws.
Sophomore forward
Korbyn Ukasick added 15 points and six rebounds for the Tigers, who dropped to 2-21 overall and 2-10 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Marleyna Bustamante scored 16 points for Dallas, which improved to 13-8 overall and 6-5 in the conference.
Sammi Tso finished with 13 points and three assists, while Brooke Hagemann added 10 points for the Crusaders.
With two games remaining in the season, Tyus needs just 10 rebounds to become the school's 18th player to reach 500.
Colorado College closes out the 2014-15 campaign next weekend at home against Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran University on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
