The Colorado College women's tennis team completed an exhausting four hour match to earn a 7-2 win over Oglethorpe University on Wednesday morning in Orlando, Fla.
 
The Tigers began the day in singles play where Mary Edman led the team and dropped only one point in her best performance of the season at No. 5 singles. Edman beat Clara Reinheimer in a quick 6-0, 6-1 victory.
 
Katie Patterson won at No. 2 singles in a swift 6-1, 6-2 win over K.C. Te. Maddy Bush also had a fast match at No. 4 singles by beating Kate Seiss, 6-3, 6-0. With the win, Bush continued her winning streak and improved to a perfect 5-0 record at No. 4 singles.
 
Caila Criss earned the final singles point for CC in an arduous match at No. 3 singles. Criss dropped the first set 7-5, but rallied back in the second and third set, beating Sarah Duff, 6-4, 7-5 to help the Tigers take a 4-2 lead during singles action.   
 
“Katie, Maddy and Mary got off to great starts and finished their matches quickly,” said head coach Todd Doebler. “Caila had a tough battle and was able to pull through to get a good win.
 
“In doubles, we continued with strong play and won all three matches.”
 
In doubles play, Deanna Thirkell and Edman had a commanding 8-1 victory over Te and Duff to seal the win for the Tigers at No. 1 doubles.
 
Patterson and Criss won their doubles match over Caffrey Francis and Reinheimer with a score of 8-3 at No. 2 doubles. Bush and Anna Sweeney completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win over Siess and Tricia Groover at No. 3 doubles.
 
Colorado College improved to 7-3 on the season and continues play in Orlando as it takes on Bethel University on Thursday morning in the fifth of six matches over spring break
