SIDE OUT

  • Texas Lutheran (26-9, 11-5 SCAC) split the regular season series with Colorado College. On October 8, Texas Lutheran picked up their first win in program history over the Tigers on the Tigers' home floor - entering the match 0-24 in prior matchups. Texas Lutheran would drop their matchup with the Tigers in Seguin, 3-1, last Saturday.
  • Texas Lutheran is making its fourth straight appearance in the SCAC Tournament and ninth appearance overall - with the 2018 season being the only season missing the tournament since joining the SCAC in 2013. The Bulldogs are 7-12 overall (.368) in SCAC Tournament play and will be making their first appearance in the SCAC Championship on Sunday.
  • Texas Lutheran is the first team to make the SCAC Volleyball Championship not named Trinity, Southwestern or Colorado College since Rhodes College made and won the championship in 1991.
  • Texas Lutheran has not appeared in a Volleyball Conference Championship since 2010 as a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) and have not won a conference championship since the 2007 season when the Bulldogs defeated Hardin-Simmons in the ASC Championship for their second ASC title.
  • The 2022 season is the first time the Bulldogs have tallied double-digit conference wins since joining the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference in the fall of 2013. The 26-win mark marks the most since 2004's 27-win season when Texas Lutheran was still a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) as they continue their pursuit to return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2007 season. 26 wins is the second most wins since Texas Lutheran became an NCAA Institution.
  • Lexi Morris, a senior from Victoria, Texas added to the Bulldogs' list of SCAC Backrow Player of the Year winners on Friday adding to a list that includes Megan Lee (2013, '14), Jaci Chambers (2018), and Morris herself in the 2021 season. Morris is only the second Bulldog in program history to win back-to-back SCAC Backrow Player of the Year honors - joining Lee. The Bulldogs have won the award five of their 10 seasons in the SCAC. Morris leads the SCAC with her 5.63 digs per set and was in double figures in all 34 matches she played in including 18 matches with at least 20 digs. Morris currently ranks second in NCAA Division-III in digs after leading NCAA Division-III last season. After surpassing Lee and Chambers to become Texas Lutheran's all-time digs leader this season, Morris now ranks third all-time in SCAC history in digs and will finish her career ranked third in SCAC history in digs per set. Morris was SCAC Defensive Player of the Week two times this season.
  • Lexi Morris is now TLU's all-time career digs leader with over 2,500 digs in her career. She currently sits in third place in SCAC history. After leading the NCAA in digs last season, she currently sits in second place on the season.
  • Head Coach Phyllis Fowler earned her first SCAC Coach of the Year accolade after guiding the Bulldogs to a 24-9 (.727) regular season for the best regular-season winning percentage of her career. The 24 wins marked the most since 2007's 22-win season when Texas Lutheran was still a member of the American Southwest Conference (ASC). Fowler's 11 conference wins are the most since Texas Lutheran joined the SCAC in the fall of 2013. Amongst those conference wins was TLU's October 7 win over Colorado College - the first in program history.
  • Senior middle blocker Madison Weisinger earned All-SCAC First Team honors as she leads the Bulldogs with a .335 hitting percentage and 117 total blocks. Entering the SCAC Tournament, Weisinger ranked 11th nationally in total blocks and sixth in block assists. Weisinger has recorded 258 kills and is averaging 2.189 kills per set. She has notched double-figure points in 21 matches this season.
  • Colorado College (20-8, 11-5 SCAC), who entered the SCAC Tournament receiving votes in the latest AVCA Poll, is led by back-to-back SCAC Setter of the Year Jenny Jenks, SCAC kills leader Isabella Lapacis, and Keeley Kandziora.
  • Colorado College advances to the SCAC championship match for the first time since 2020 and the ninth time overall. The Tigers are 6-2 in their previous championship appearances.
  • With Colorado College's 3-1 victory over two-seed Southwestern Friday night, it ensures the first-ever SCAC championship final, in the seeding era (1997-present) that neither the one or two seed will be playing in the championship match.
