Parsons fans 11 and Offense Records 13 Hits in Game 1 Over McMurry

Baseball opened up their three-game series against McMurry with a win 3-0. Celt pitching took control, logging 12 strikeouts in the game, from Chris Parsons and Jacob Mead

It was McMurry who tried to get on the board first with a leadoff hit in the first. However they failed to capitalize as three consecutive strikeouts followed. St. Thomas responded with a hit of their own from Cameron McClure, yet he was left stranded as the Warhawks also struck out a pair of batters to close the inning. It was a quiet game until the fifth inning when Dillon Mckee hit his second single of the day. This sparked a five-hit inning for the Celts, capped off by a Jason Brown single to score McKee as St. Thomas took a 1-0 lead. It was a similar story in the bottom of the sixth as four hits gave the Celts some Insurance. Mason Seay hit a triple to the back wall to score Jeffrey Williams, then Jarod Smith brought Seay home with a single as St. Thomas took a 3-0 lead and never looked back. 13 total hits in the game keep the offense going, however, nine stranded batters kept the score the same. Yet, three runs was enough to hold off the Warhawks as the Celts secured their third win of the season.

On the mound for St. Thomas, Chris Parsons had one impressive outing. The second-year pitcher allowed just one hit in the first inning and followed it up with 11 strikeouts to prevent McMurry from coming close to St. Thomas. After eight impressive innings, Jacob Mead came in to finish the job and washed out the Warhawks with a strikeout of his own to end the game securing the 3-0 victory.

Up next, baseball wraps up their series with McMurry, doubleheader style. Come out to Houston Christian University Husky Field at 12 and 3 pm as the Celts go for another series win!
