SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas men's basketball fell to Trinity University by a score of 81-68 on Friday evening. Trinity (8-12, 6-7 SCAC) was paced by Jack Williams who finished with a game-high 25 points. Trinity also shot the ball well from the field finishing with a mark of 32-71 (45%). Dallas (11-9, 7-6 SCAC) fell behind early, but kept fighting back. Trinity swung back momentum to the Tigers side with big runs to take the conference victory.

Trinity opened up the game 10-5. UD then cut the lead to three (12-9) at the 11:52 mark. John Russell (Bosier City, La.) scored three-straight buckets to keep the Crusaders close. TU used a 15-2 run to grow its lead to 30-13 with six minutes to play. The Tigers eventually found a 42-27 advantage at the halftime break.

Dustin Mathis (Fort Worth, Texas) opened the second period with a three-pointer, which spurred a 7-2 Dallas run (44-33). Three-straight Trinity buckets killed the Dallas momentum. TU later pushed its lead to 66-45 with eight and a half minutes to play. The Crusaders then got back into this game with a 12-5 run of their own, but Trinity found baskets down the stretch and never allowed UD to get within more than 11 points in the final minutes.

Mathis paced Dallas with 19 points shooting 5-12 from behind the arc. Isaiah Hayes (Arlington, Texas) added 14 points with a 5-8 effort from the field and knockrf down four three-pointers on six tries. Russell contributed 10 points and eight rebounds for UD. Dallas had 14 assists in the ballgame and gained 27 points from its bench.  

Williams led Trinity with 25 points, as he shot 10-18 from the field and 3-4 from three-point range. Ben Canady put in 12 points and dished out nine assists. TU won the rebound battle 45-43. The Tigers shot 32-71 from the field and 8-11 (73%) from the free throw line on the night. TU had 22 fast break points and also converted 13 points off of turnovers.
