He also placed second in the 200-yard butterfly after Tomas Gozalez earned the victory with a top time of 2:02.37.

"This meet started off with great momentum for us, and that definitely carried us through the meet. After winning both diving events and both medley relays, we had the confidence we needed to step forward," head coach Anne Goodman James said. "Tomas Gonzalez has truly been a difference maker as a freshman. I was really proud of the swimmers for the risks we took in making some technical changes that really paid off."

James' daughter, Sarah, is an assistant coach for Southwestern and the two were reunited after the Pirates traveled up from Georgetown, Texas.

The Tigers will be back at it against Southwestern on Saturday inside Schlessman Natatorium at 11 a.m.
