The Rhodes College Baseball team defeated Randolph-Macon College this evening at USA Stadium 8-5. Rhodes overcame an early 2-0 Yellow Jacket lead with a 4 run bottom of the 4th. Randolph-Macon answered back with 3 in the top of the 6th, before the Lynx finished the days scoring with 4 more in the bottom half of the inning. Junior
Remick Smothers picked up his second win of the year, after relieving starter Andy Meier. Rhodes is now 11-12 on the year.
Senior Andy Meier made his 2nd start of the year this evening working 5.2 innings, allowing 3 hits, 5 runs, 2 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 4. Smothers entered the game with 2 outs in the top of the 6th and went the next 2.1 innings before handing the ball over to Lynx closer
Hunter Chandler. Smothers did not allow a hit, walked 2, and struck out 3 as he improved his record to 2-1 on the year. Chandler picked up his 2nd save of the year, facing only 3 hitters in the top of the 9th. The Lynx pitching staff overcome 5 errors by the Lynx defense, by limiting the Yellow Jacket offensive attack to only 3 hits.

Matt Burnick delievered the biggest blow of the night with a 3 run home run in the bottom of the 6th, to give the Lynx an 8-5 lead.
Rhodes will return to action this Thursday at Stauffer Field against Hendrix College. First pitch is set for 3:00.
