Austin College Women Roll to Win Over Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The No. 24-ranked Austin College women's basketball team forced 27 turnovers and held the University of Dallas to 29.1% shooting on their way to an 84-40 victory on Saturday evening in Hughey Gym. The 'Roos are now 15-2 overall and 8-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Austin College once again got a balanced scoring attack, with Natalie McCoy notching 14 points to lead 12 'Roos putting points on the board. Kacie West added 13 for the 'Roos, and Ally Longaker scored 12 while grabbing six rebounds. The Roos outscored the Crusaders 56-22 in the middle two periods and scored 33 points off of turnovers in the game to earn the victory.

The 'Roos raced out to a 19-2 lead to open the game before getting cold offensively, and would take a 19-9 lead into the second quarter. Austin College shot 61.1% from the field in the second and turned the Crusaders over 10 times to build their lead and head into halftime leading 46-21. The third quarter was more of the same, as Austin College poured in 29 points in the period, knocking down 10-of-17 field goal attempts to push the deficit to 75-31 heading into the fourth and they'd cruise from there.

McCoy hit 4-of-5 field goal attempts and all five of her free throw tries to get her 14 points off the bench, and West was 5-of-12 from the field. Longaker hit 5-of-6 shots, and Ann Savage chipped in six points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals in the victory. Maddy Hubych came off the bench to pull down seven boards while swatting four shots.

Austin College returns to action next weekend in Hughey, taking on Colorado College on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and Johnson & Wales on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
